Facing Fear with Faith: Be Strong and Courageous (Joshua 1)

and it's about leadership it's about transitioning and getting ready to go into the area that God is calling you to go in although it may be hostile although it may be brand new although it may be forign this message is a reassurance for some of you okay so before I get into this message let's pray heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Lord father we first and foremost want to thank you for this time we want to thank you for this hour Lord we thank you for your presence being here today L your word says that when two or three are gathered or more Lord you are here

in the midst and so father I believe that you're in the midst right here and I pray that you begin to speak to this leader that's watching this video today and you allow me to speak the words that you would have me say heavenly father to edify to encourage guide this leader this season as they go into a new space a new transition a new role of leadership God and we thank you for this word today it's in Jesus mighty name that we pray amen amen amen my lead if you're watching this video right now I want you to open up to the Book of Joshua we're going to be

in the first chapter and the Lord directed me to this chapter in this book because I met a prophet a few weeks ago by the name of Chad I was doing my Bible study at a Starbucks and he literally just sat in front of me began to share his story with me and began to prophesy over my life and as the begin of prophesy one of the books that I took from his story was Joshua and I was just compelled to begin to read about Joshua and if you don't know about Joshua if I exed the text real quick on Chapter Chapter 1 what you're going to find is that

Joshua is the successor of Moses Moses has just passed away and gone to be with the the Lord Joshua is Task with being the new leader of the children of Israel Joshua is a military leader okay and also the spiritual leader what's very important to note when you listen to this story as I read is to hone in real quick on some key words that are utilized constantly Throughout the chapter one four times you're going to see be strong and courageous be strong and courageous there's a reason why the Lord emphasizes this multiple times okay and today's message one of my goals today is to help you understand how to

actually be strong and very courageous as you embark on this new path or this new Journey that God has you on okay it feels different imagine having to go in and be the leader of this nation you may feel imposture syndrome you may feel like you're not ready and that's okay because you're not doing this out of your own might alone you're doing this out of the strength of the Lord so let's open up to Joshua I'm reading out of the KJV okay so let's read let's let's get some hearing of the word faith comes by hearing so let's let's hear the word verse one so now after the death

of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of nun Moses Minister saying Moses my servant is dead now therefore arise go over to this Jordan and all this people unto the land which I do give to them even to the children of Israel every place that the soul of your foot shall tread upon that have I given unto you as I said unto Moses what you're going to realize is that everything that Moses had that wealth transfer the responsibility it transferred on to Joshua the promises the land The Inheritance God is going to continuously reassure Joshua that what I

gave to Moses I'm giv to you now verse four from the Wilderness in this Lebanon even unto the Great River the river Euphrates all the land of Hittites and unto the great sea towards the going down of the sun shall be your Coast there shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life as I was with Moses so I will be with thee I will not fail thee nor forsake forsake thee now verse six check this out be strong and of a good courage For unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land which I swear unto their fathers to give

them here it goes again verse 7 only be thou strong and very courageous that thou May observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou mayest Prosper whatsoever thouest goost this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth but Thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou May observe to do according to all that is written therein for then Thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then shal thou have good success that's what my wife loves to say that word good success Lord grant us success verse 9

have I not commanded thee be strong and of good courage Be not Afraid neither be not thou dismayed for the Lord thy God is with thee whatsoever thou ghost one thing that you're going to see you're going to find this word again in verse 18 where he talks about be strong and of good courage so here we have Joshua who God continues to say be strong and of good courage Joshua is about to go into a new land and into new territory when you read the text that is hostile these folks are not in expectation for Joshua hear me out these people are not in agreement with the children of

Israel there is going to be war and so God I know there's this promise and I know that there's this path that you put me on but why can I take a different path can you wipe out the enemies for me can I do this with no problem no t no turmoil there's a promise for the children of Israel and Joshua but it's not going to be an easy path Joshua needs to be strong and of good good courage and so what does that mean my leaders as I'm reading this text I'm like okay God what does that really mean how do I how do I do that well if

we go back to where the text is stating be strong and of good courage check this out my leader so in verse 5 we see there shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life as I was with Moses so I will be with thee I will not fail thee nor forsake thee so first and foremost foremost Joshua part of the reasons why I need you to be strong and of good courage is I need you to real realize that you're not doing this by yourself you see every single thing that your successor Moses was able to do how Moses led the children

the captives out of Egypt and was able to part the Red Sea you know Moses didn't do this out of his own might Moses relied on me he was obedient and he had full Assurance in faith that if I commanded him to do a task task I was going to be there with him he wasn't going to look foolish doing it and so he assures him he said I will not fail and if God says he will not fail I'm going to trust that God will not fail my leaders one of the ways that we know and have this strong and this courage of going the path that God spoke

to you this is for my believers who believe in Jesus Christ you have the Holy Ghost the revealer of all truth okay and you have have an advantage because you have the anointing and because you have the anointing the anointing never leaves you nor forsake you if the devil came to you and I rebuke that name right now if the devil came to you and gave you a promise and said hey yeah yeah yeah go down there and make a left yeah I'm going to be right there I'm going to be right there with you the devil will absolutely give you the motivation to begin doing the thing but when

the going gets tough the devil will leave you the devil is not faithful but the god that we serve my leader is absolutely faithful he's the reason why Joshua and the children of Israel have the advantage y'all will make it not because y'all have the strength to do it but because I have the strength to do it the The Great I Am Joshua be strong and very courageous because I will not fail nor forsake you verse six be strong and of good courage For unto this people sh thou divide for inheritance the land which I swear unto their fathers to give them another good good news is that when God

swears by his name it shall come to pass there's nothing that God says that will not come to pass he he swore to Moses Moses Isaac Isaac Abraham way back in Genesis of Abraham that this was going to take place and when God speaks a word there it don't come back to him boy it's taking place verse 7 only be thou strong and very courageous that thou May observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou mayest Prosper whatsoever thou goest so Joshua one of the things that I just need you

to do I just need you to be obedient okay I need you to follow the Torah the first first five books in the Bible I need you to follow that this is what I given Moses I've given him those laws I've given him the Commandments follow those Ten Commandments and if you walk in this your way shall prosper now you and not know because of Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins and became the curse and was risen and ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of the father who became the advocate for us we understand that Jesus Christ is the completion of that law

so by leaning and trusting on Jesus obeying the commands that come from Jesus we understand that this is the similarity of us walking in the laws of of Moses the completion we are not chained to a law that was broken we're not under the Mosaic law because of Jesus Jesus Christ but we're under the law of Grace because of Jesus Christ which I will commend you is a even greater law whole different story whole different message but we're not under the Mosaic law but here in this text the Mosaic law what it was also was to help one it was to showcase the sin and that no man was perfect

no man could be perfect for that law no man could follow that law to the te with truly without constantly having to make sacrifices for sins goats and all the other things that they sacrific animals but in that time it was what was given to Moses on Mount tonight and it was a way to keep them righteous with God and it was a way for them to walk a path that would keep them away from walking the Crooked ways and Isaiah talks about that God will make our crooked way straight Joshua you're about to go to a new territory and all I need you to do is continuously it's going

to show us in the next verse what he wants us to do is continuously to observe my leaders continuously read the word of God in the next verse we're going to see how it talks about meditate on it day and and night because the word this beautiful book for us Believers it keeps us on the right path it shows us stuff we supposed to do it shows us things that we shouldn't be doing it gives us wisdom and we need wisdom for this journey that we're on you need wisdom for this new territory that God is going to place you in you need wisdom for this area of leadership matter

of fact First Kings chapter 3 who do we see asking God for wisdom when his father passes David David's son Solomon in First Kings chapter 3 if you go there take time to Bible study that one he's tasked with leading all these great people as the new king that new leadership role and he's like whoa how how can I lead all these great people he's asking God I need the knowledge the ability to judge discern good and evil I need need wisdom so by God telling Joshua to observe the laws is hey this is going to Grant you the wisdom that you need to make the decisions that you have

to make moving forward verse 8 this book of the law shall not part out of thy mouth but Thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein for then Thou shalt make thy ways prosperous and then Thou shalt have good success when we are in this word and we're meditating on scriptures day in and day and out what I realize is for me to meditate on my scriptures constantly asking before I'm making certain decisions Lord what does my word say about this particular thing like I'm praying to God first and foremost then I'm going to my word what does

the word have to say about this subject or this topic how did the word handle this scenario in this situation what does the word say let me meditate on that and as I meditate on it and as I'm thinking about it throughout the day and as I'm thinking about certain scriptures I begin to ask the Holy Ghost Lord let this thing take root in my heart that's what I needed to do I needed to take root Lord so that I can now begin to operate in a way that's biblically sound versus fleshly sound verse 9 have I not commanded thee be strong and of a good courage Be not Afraid

neither be dismayed for the Lord God is with thee which so wherever you go so Joshua Joshua God he understands that hey along this journey there's going to be some fear that comes about when you see what you're up against and I'm not just telling you to be strong and of good courage once again I'm telling you I'm with you wherever you go when you're in the Valley of the shallow of death I'm right there with you when you're on your high horse and you're you're feeling cocky and Uber confident I'm with you when you're feeling confused along this journey wondering if you still going on the right path because

seems don't seem to be going right because let's be honest even though we're on the right path for God my Believers what does Jesus tell us Jesus Christ in the New Testament tells us for his name's sake there's going to be much persecution the Bible tells us the righteous will experience much affliction so when we're going towards this path even though it may be the path of leadership and the path that God calls you on when Joshua goes on along this path there's going to be some trouble there's going to be feelings that hey I don't even feel peaceful right now I don't even know if I could do this

there's going to be moments where he's facing his own goliaths and we all know how if you do our Bible study about Goliath goli was an intimidating intimidating figure so don't be dismayed if the Bible mentions be strong and of good courage and it's telling you don't be afraid or dismayed it's because God knows because of our human nature and sometimes our ability to forget what God has done in the past for us he knows that there's some intimidation that's going to come about this journey and if there's some intimidation when you get afraid and there's fear he's say yo don't don't run now is not the time to run

now is not the time to shrink back the word speaks about this we spoke about this in the other video Hebrews 11:38 that talks about the just shall live by faith and if any man shrink back the Lord will not be pleased my leader God has to continuously reassure Joshua so that he can continuously walk in a way that is pleasing to God and I would even have to say this when we are walking in this we literally walk into the provision that God has prepared in advance we walk in the provision of what God has prepared before you even got to that situation it's almost like being able to

see with your eyes close as long as you have faith in Jesus Christ you can walk forward and it may seem like you're walking forward with your eyes closed but be strong and of good courage for God will not leave you nor when he forsake you and he hasn't put you down this path for you to literally say Dam Lord where you at just trust the process and when you're feeling this fear and when you're feeling afraid the best thing that you and I can do is just pray pray to God Lord God you know how I feel I know you said go down this path but right now I

don't even feel like I can go there right now I don't feel like there's a promise in this what is this feeling I I don't know I'm irritated I'm annoyed I'm afraid they calling me names like I may fail in this pth I've never done this before God though can I really lead I'm feeling this apost syndrome be not be Not Afraid nor dismay the God will never leave you nor forsake forsake you my I don't know where you are right now but there's times even on this path where I'm looking at God I'm like God I know I'm following you I know I'm hearing the Holy Ghost and I

know you put me on this path cuz my flesh would have chose this path I don't willingly choose to jump into trouble I don't willingly choose to go through certain things Lord but I know that you put me on this path and I'm going to stay in this path as long as you're with me and the Bible's telling us yeah I'll never leave you nor forsake you just keep following my word that I've given to you Holy Ghost is going to be the thing that reveals well I said the thing forgive me Lord Holy Ghost the reveal of all truth will reveal everything to you Bible is going to speak

to you and reveal everything to you God who Psalm says his inhabitance is heaven and he looks at the Inhibitors of the earth sees every single thing that you're going through and like a master chess player his vantage point is like that of the Eagles way higher than yours way higher than mine I can never say I saw myself being right here speaking to people on YouTube across the globe talking to people who are messaging me now from Ethiopia all right from London from England right much less of course the United States of America but it's a global thing the word tells me Michael don't be afraid nor dismayed I've

equipped you and I want them to get their inheritance I want them to go towards their calling I want them to be strong and of good courage and I need you to speak to these leaders so my leader I don't know what God is calling you to do right now but if you heard the sound of the Lord the voice of the Lord from this message be strong and of good courage all right God definitely is with you right now in your scenario let's pray heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Lord father we just want to say thank you ABA for this moment of Peace This Moment

of clarity Joshua was a military leader a spiritual leader and even him when task with what you were about to call him to do you knew that he would be afraid and he may be dismayed to go back and go astray but God you gave him the reassurance and so Lord the same reassurance that you gave Joshua I'm praying that this leader hears your words to not be afraid nor dismayed but continues to go forward and as they go forward they continuously read your word and they meditate on your scriptures heavenly father to continuously get your reassurance God you want this leader to be the best that they can possibly

be you want them to lead God and I don't know where you're leading them to but they know so let them spend time with you let them trust the process and let them not run from your commands although they may feel this fear Lord God they are exactly where they need to be if they are watching this video right now heavenly father so Lord God I just want to say we repent right now for any sin that we've committed that grieve the Holy Ghost we repent right now if we've been so afraid that we've been running away God we we commit ourselves today right now to continuously following you once
