Joshua 6: Victory by Faith Through God's Unconventional Strategy

no life saved me from suicide brought me out of being addicted to weed brought me out of being addicted to drinking strong Lor um every weekend brought me out of my addiction with pornography okay he's brought me out of my addiction my overc consumption of video gaming he's brought me out of being a fornicator he's brought me out of so many things always cursing with my mouth every other sentence truly um he's brought me out am I perfect absolutely not one day when I'm a pastor am I going to be perfect absolutely not I absolutely need Jesus Jesus Christ and if you're somebody that absolutely needs Jesus Christ you join

into the right platform make sure you join the community hit the Subscribe button if you so choose um but today's message specifically God has me in the Book of Joshua and I may do a playlist to a series of this but this message today is titled Victory by fith through God's God's unconventional strategy IES victories by faith through God's unconventional strategies okay I had to read my notes here because that title is kind of long and so we're going to read out of Joshua chapter 6 if you have your Bible I'm in the KJV version and before we begin let's pray heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ

father I ask that you go before me right now and prepare the minds of this leader who is is listening to this message Lord I ask that you allow their brain and their Spirit to just be a fertile ground a nice soil so that when we plant this seed it could produce a 30-fold A 60-fold or 100 fold increase father let them get a deeper revelation of Jesus Christ through this book of Joshua chapter 6 Lord let us hear about your miraculous plans your strategies that sometimes make no sense father if this this leader is in need of direction if they're needed of guidance if they're needing of an increase

in their faith they've tried every single thing for this strategy to to go for it nothing's been working father I pray that Joshua 6 brings a revelation a fresh Revelation that you may guide them today use me today to speak your word onto this leader we love you we thank you and it's in Jesus mighty name that we pray amen amen amen hey my leaders so I want us to get a quick summary right now if you've been with me we've been reading the book of Joshua for the past few days okay and Joshua right Moses has passed away he used to be the leader of the children of of

Israel Joshua is now the leader okay and Joshua is both their military leader and he's their spiritual leader and God literally does a great miraculous thing of having the Jordan become dried up almost like he parted the Red Sea with Moses and now people are in awe of not only Joshua because God magnifies Joshua but they're in all the children of Israel of God right they have this fear and that fear in Hebrew is really the word reverence allwe and honor they have this respect for God now they see what he's capable of doing and the same promise that God gave Moses he still gives to Joshua okay so here

we are now in chapter six the chapter before this God delivers them out of the Jordan he performs this great great miracle and as they're going towards Jericho and they're called to coner Jericho and and and not in a good way they're going to end up slaughtering every single individual in Jericho as a sign of God's judgment and the only people that are going to be spared is Rahab the prostitute in her family because she allowed in Chapter 2 the spies that Joshua sent out to spy on the land to spy in Jericho to just see what was going on she had enough faith to believe that these men were

sent from God okay and she receives them and her fith actually saves her family and this story just her having that level of faith in the Old Testament is the New Testament understanding of receiving Jesus Christ through faith and receiving our salvation and being saved it's a beautiful Duality that you see taking space space and so before the children of Israel are to conquer Jericho okay there is a christony that happens whenever christophany happens is Jesus Christ appearance in the Old Testament okay in the form of a human Okay scholars believe that this christophany that happens at the end of chapter 5 was Jesus Christ and the reason they believe

this is because the same words that um were used for Moses when God comes to Moses in a burning bush was used in the end of chapter 5 and also Joshua when he asks who this guy is it's so gangster because God Jesus he's in the form of this man and he has his sword sword drawn and he has his sword and drown and Joshua steps up to this to this man ready for battle all right and when he learns that that's the Lord God Joshua gets on his knees and worships the the man and all throughout the Bible we see that men of God never allow people to worship

them and also Angels like Daniel uh Angel Gabriel they never allow men to worship them because worship is only for the Lord that's it so this individual allows Joshua to get on his knees worships and also it says this and the captain of The Lord of host said unto Joshua loose thy shoes from off thy foot for the place where on thou standed is Holy and Joshua did so and you'll find that same phrase used by God in uh Exodus 3 verse 5 okay when you have time go look at it it's awesome so I'm just kind of warming this up because now here it is they're about to go

into Jericho and God promised that he already delivered Jericho into the hands of the children of Israel but now here's the deal here's the deal he gives them Divine strategy and here comes a connection in this title fate right now you may be in a scenario where it just seems like the wisdom that you would typically lean on the wisdom of man your own wisdom you're leaning on your own understanding there not seem to be a strategy that's able to deliver you into Victory and so here as we read and as we really get our mind wrapped around this we want to understand something very specific that this season what's

going to happen for Joshua and the children of Israel is unconventional Divine strategy and when something is unconventional it means it's not the ordinary ordinary way it's not a systematic way that men would think God says in the word that his ways are above our ways his thoughts are above our thoughts and so he gives them a strategy to conquer Jericho that it just seems absolutely absolutely ridiculous so let's read actually what ends up happening so Joshua 6 all right if we start at verse two well let's start just just read verse one now it says now Jericho was straightly shut because of the children of Israel none went out

and none came in so first and foremost God did a preemptive thing and we saw that with the spies you saw that with the spies when they came in they saw that people were in fear of the god of Israel okay and when he does the preemptive thing it means that he went before and he already he already solved the issue he already put a a reverence and a respect he already went before them and opened the doors he already went before them and conquered Jericho so God did a preemptive thing and he went before them to conquer Jericho and checked this out here it is that God has already

done that miraculous thing but here is the state of needing to be obedient to his command it says this verse two and the Lord said unto Joshua see I have given unto thine hand Jericho and the King thereof and the Mighty Man of Valor and ye shall Compass the city all you Men of War and go round about the city city once thus shall do this 6 days for for 6 days the men of War are to go around the city one time for six days and seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of ram horns in the seven day ye shall Compass the city seven times and

the priest shall blow the trumpet so now on the seventh day they to go around the city seven times times okay and in the Bible the number seven is it stands for divine completeness okay on the seventh day God was going to complete the task I want y' to Encompass this thing for seven days and it shall come to pass that when they make a long blast with the Rams Horn and when you hear the sound of trumpet all the people shall Shout with a great shout and the wall of the city shall fall down flat and the people shall Ascend up every man straight before before him that was

the command and what you're going to see all throughout verses six on down you're going to see Joshua following in ordering he's their military leader he's ordering them to do God's commands to the te all all right this is very important because God is a detailed God he's a specific God he understands the he knows the number of hairs on our head he knows the number number of sand on the seash shores in the beginning he created the heavens and he created the Earth and in six days he was finished with his complete complete in all its details in 6 days we freaking R out things and discovering stuff like

WiFi Wi-Fi was there in the beginning we're discovering things like how to put man into space those things were there from the beginning we figured out how to make aircrafts that are taking people from one country to another all of these things were there in the beginning we're just figuring these things out we're just coming to the Revelation your victory has already been won your battle has already been written about and what I'm going to do here is get you to understand in faith that now what you're looking for is wisdom and you're not looking for any wisdom you're looking for a Divine wisdom because Divine wisdom comes with strategy

so so here it is if we go down all the way to to 15 and it says and it came to pass on the seventh day that they Rose early about the dawning of the day encompassed the city after the same manner seven times only on that day they compassed the city seven times and it came to pass at the seven time when the priest blew with the trumpets Joshua said unto the people sh for the Lord had given you the city and the city shall be accursed even it and all that are in to the the Lord so when that thing is a cursed it's it's going into this

judgment okay God is literally getting ready to put judgment on the city and he's about to [Music] [Music] destroy destroy Jericho for its wickedness if God puts judgment on something it's because of the wickedness they weren't for God okay and anything that is against God and is not for God you can say it's witchcraft it's not of God it's it's Antichrist and so this is also an example of Revelation in the New Testament these people have not submitted like Rahab they have not had faith in God in the New Testament they have not had faith in Jesus and this is Judgment this is almost like Rapture in the the tribulation

God is going to judge I know it's a hard truth but as Believers you understand this this is a part of the Saving Grace of having faith in Jesus Christ Rahab the only one that is spared it says in this in 17 it says in the city shall be a cursed even it and all that are therein to the Lord only Rahab the Harlot shall live she and all that are with her in the house because she hid the messenges that we sent and when you go to Hebrews let's pause for a second and we go to Hebrews um chapter 11 and we go to verse 31 it it also

confirms in the New Testament why Rahab was actually saved which is also crazy because he's the example also of a gentile Paul's Ministry to the Gentiles who are also saved not by works right but by faith in Jesus Christ she had faith in God which now crazy she's a part of the lineage of Jesus Christ okay that's a whole another story whole another conversation but uh Hebrews let me take you to the address Hebrews 11:31 it says by faith the heart Rahab perished not with them that believe not all right the whole city of Jericho when she had received despies with peace that's Hebrews 11:31 so let's go back let's

go back home to Joshua 6 okay and let's keep reading Verse 18 and ye in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing lest you make yourself accursed when you take of the accursed thing and make the camp of Israel cursed and trouble it but all the silver and gold and vessels of brass and iron are consecrated unto the Lord they shall come into the treasury of the Lord so besides rahab's family and herself being spared what's also spared here ironically is the silver and it's the gold it's the vessels of brass and iron the resources these were consecrated these were forgot okay these were for God's people he set

that aside for them he consecrated it and ironically how obedience to God also increased their resources and increased their riches Solomon has something to say about this in Ecclesiastes chapter 2 I want you to go to this address real quick okay this is a very powerful address Ecclesiastes if you still with me hey you're a real one put in the comments below I'm a real one put on the comments below I'm a real one I'm here I'm here coach J I'm here and I pray you'll follow with me so Ecclesiastes reads in verse two okay in chapter two we're going to go to verse 26 it says for God give

to a man that is good in his sight wisdom knowledge and joy but to The Sinner he give it travail that's that's trouble to gather that's TR not only trouble but hard work hard labor travail to gather and to Heap up that he may give to him that is good before God so the people in Jericho they they got this silver they got this gold they got these resources that now God has destroyed Jericho and those resources that they they accumulated God gives them to the children of Israel Solomon says this also is Vanity and vexation of spirit it's crazy God w cause your enemy to pay you and to

give you resources this is a Biblical principle and it won't be that they're giving you the resources that were theirs all the resources on this Earth is God's resources whole another message my leaders but I want us to see it's in Joshua 6 since we're talking about it and so here it is here it is let me calm down I'm yelling I'm sorry y'all I apologize I'm getting excited I didn't mean to yell at y'all like that man my apologies verse 20 so the people shouted when the priest blew with the trumpets and it came to pass when the people heard the sound of the trumpet and the people shouted

with a great shout that the wall fell down flat this wall this barrier that they would not have been able to get through otherwise the strategy of God caused this thing to fall down the gate was open the door was open he actually speaks about this even in Isaiah 45 he says so that the people went up into the city every man straight before him and they took the city and they utterly destroyed all that was in the city and this part is graphic both men and women young and old and ox and sheep and and ass which was donkey and with the egg edge of the sword this God

that we're speaking about in the Old Testament there was a lot of things that you'll read about that showed his I would say lack of Mercy but that shows shows judgment God is not a god that is playing about wickedness okay and the Beautiful Thing is in the New Testament God has this this sense of grace through Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior that when we repent right if these individuals had a repenting heart it would have been spared Rahab showed that repenting heart and that faith in Jesus Christ which spared it's a it's a beautiful principle but he didn't spare men woman ox or sheep they were wiped out

clean and matter of fact not only just these people who are considered Gentiles Moses didn't make it to the promised promised land and the men of valor the men of War all the men who escaped out of Egypt they too didn't make it out of Egypt they too didn't make it into the promised land it says in the Bible the new generation made it into the promised land but matter of fact let me take you to this address so that you know it says in Joshua chap 5 Verse 6 it says for the children of Israel walked 40 years in the wilderness that's what happened when they got out of

uh Egypt and it says till all the people that were Men of War which came out of Egypt were consumed because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord unto whom the Lord swear that he would not show them the land which the Lord swear unto their fathers that he would give us a land that flowed with milk and honey so even God's Own people that tend to disobey and go astray in this Old Testament if God speaks a Word of Promise it's it's it's not null and void he means it but he takes that and lifts that curse we see in that last chapter with the circumcision a sign

that God is his Covenant is still moving strong with the children of Israel just in the new generation okay if you still with me you're a real one I know we at we at 23 minutes right now so in verse 22 it says but Joshua said unto the two men that had spied out the country go into the harlot's house and bring out then the wom and all that she had as ye swear unto her and the young men that were spies went in and brought out Rahab and her father and her mother and her Brethren and all that she had and they brought out all her Kindred and left

them without the camp of Israel Israel okay and they burnt the city with fire and all that was therein only the silver and the gold and the vessels of brass and the iron they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord and Joshua saved Rahab the Harlot alive and her father's household and all that she had and she dwelleth in Israel even until this day because she hid The Messengers which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho you see one of the things that we also learned about Rahab is that your family my leader my believer your family you could be the generational generational breaker of ancestral curses your

family can be saved through your faith in Jesus Christ your family any curses that been spoken over you right can be saved through Jesus Christ your faith truly brings Victory and although Rahab had this level of faith in God when The Messengers came it was her obedience to now that you has this revelation bring them into your home and she also protected them because the king of Jericho at the time was informed that these two spies were coming into Jericho and she saved them so just like she saved them and did not deny them right the Lord didn't deny her as well too right because God in in the New

Testament Jesus speaks about us denying him before man and if we deny him before man he's going to deny us before the father okay and so she didn't deny the man she accepts them and check this this out you're almost done here there's a curse now on the land okay and the curse on that land specifically is that if anybody tries to build back up on this land their first born will be taken and their last born will be taken Okay so verse 27 so the Lord was with Joshua and his Fame was noised throughout all the country the Lord was with Joshua once again throughout this chapter um Joshua

1-6 we see that there's a magnifying that God does to Joshua the man of God for his obedience and in that magnifying is not just to give Joshua this level of authority authority of Praise just for him Joshua is clearly a servant of God that's ready to obey his commands God wants to magnify a man like this because God wants to get the glory when we're obedient to Christ and we allow his I mean unconventional ways to be the thing that leads us to Victory other people are able to prophesy and declare right and Proclaim like I want this Jesus too um in the New Testament we see Jes speaking

about there's a generation unless they see miracles signs or wonders they will not believe and we understand in the New Testament that there's many miracles God couldn't perform in his old Hometown because of the word unbelief so God will do things in your life and it may seem like you're going through a war but if you're going through a war like Joshua God and you're walking with Jesus God has already went before you and he's delivered you now it's for us to spend time in God's presence not trying to do all the things that we're trying to do but spend time in God's God's presence okay so that we can

receive a word from him instructions imagine Joshua not stopping worshiping this man who was the Lord he wouldn't have received the right instructions and if he went into Jericho in his own will maybe everybody in the children of Israel Israel the men of War and the priest maybe they would have been slaughtered because he would have tried to do it in his own will my challenge today leadership challenge is to consider how God's Divine unconventional ways may be able to deliver you from whatever it is that you're going through this season you know I know personally I'm in a space where I need his unconventional ways to deliver me from

this new season the opportunities that I'm looking for there's provision that I desire that my me and my family need the resources there certain reconciliations that need to happen I'm a human going through what you're going through and I need to hear this word as much as I'm teaching it I need it as well too and so my challenge today is how can we begin to Worship the Lord and ask him for the wisdom of what to do in this season moving forward not our own strength not the understanding of somebody else but Revelation that comes directly from Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior let's pray heavenly father in the

name of Jesus Lord we come to you today just saying thank you for this word thank you for showing us Joshua chapter 6 well Lord you had a strategy that was unconventional how can going around a city deliver them how can the strategies that you given to them deliver them and God I know it is your Divine unconventional your sovereign that is able to deliver us out of all type of wickedness out of all types of trial it's able to make us whole it's able to heal us and father I'm praying for myself and I'm praying for this leader watching this video today that they begin to lean deeper on

you this season you have something that you want to give them you have something you want to share with them God you have a strategy and you're just asking that when you give the strategy there's obedience so God I'm asking Lord that you will not allow our hearts to be hardened once we hear your commands and we will begin to obey even if it seems ridiculous we're going to do exactly what you said give us the strength to do it ignite the Holy Ghost within us to compel us to do the thing that you have called us to do even if it seems weird we're not here to please man

but we're here to please you and your word says that without faith it's impossible to please you and I believe you're saying that because it's imp possible to obey your commands without faith so Lord we thank you that Victory is in faith through your unconventional plans God we love you we thank you and it's in Jesus mighty name that we pray amen amen my ladies I love you but Jesus Christ loves you more my Ladi if you're in need of a prayer request make sure to send me an email I'm been getting emails all over from England London different parts of the United States of America and it's a beautiful
