The Spirit Is Willing, But the Flesh Is Weak—How to Overcome It

my leaders leaders listen I'm excited to have you back at my humble abod I got something special that I want to share with you all and I prayed before I got here and I ask the Lord what can I share with you all today and one thing I want to share is something out of the book of Matthews chapter 26 and I I want to ask a question before I even begin have you ever been in a position where there's things that you wanted to do there's stuff that you had to do that may not have they may not be easy let's be honest with you and there's times you're

pumped up for it when you're praying to God you're in the spirit and it seems like you have the ability and the capacity to move forward even in a situation where you often would have fear have you ever been in that position where your spirit is so motivated it can move past that fear and then on the other Spectrum have you ever been in those same situation and you're no longer in the spirit you're no longer fired up but you still have to do the very same task and you're thinking about doing the very thing that you want to do and it's daunting but but now you feel like in

your flesh this the enemy has put all these doubts in your ear now or you've put doubts or you may be doubting right now this message is for you I want you to open up to Matthews 26 and I want us to go into verse 41 and this is ignited today by a text that I received from my mom okay and I want to explain something to you all but before I do um um let's pray dear Lord heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ father God we uplift your name we magnify the name of Jesus right now we give him the glory we give him the honor

we give him the praise he is worthy to be worshiped all throughout the day and we thank you for giving us breath in our lungs today Father we repent right now for any sin that we've done today that has gone against your will that has disrespected you or Dishonored you and we ask right now for your forgiveness Lord and we thank you that you forgive us and we thank you for your mercy and we thank you for your grace father I pray for this leader right here right now who's watching this video Lord and I pray that they get blessed by today's video and that you will bless them in

their life I don't know what they're praying to you about I don't know what they're going through but I ask that you would give them the strength that they need to go through it father today specifically this is really about how weak the flesh can be versus how powerful and mighty the spirit is so father after this video Lord I pray that we begin to walk in the spirit and not the flesh lead us today use me to speak to your leader and encourage this leader today we love you and we thank you for your precious word we thank you for the blood of Jesus that was shed on the

cross for our sins we thank you for salvation and eternal life we just want to say that we love you it's in Jesus mighty name that we pray amen my leaders one thing is for certain God loves you if you're watching this video right now one you're a leader two God loves you and I just want to remind you that of wherever you are right now whatever you've done as you continuously come to God give him the glory the praise repent like the Lord truly does love you he has great things for you and today's message is really about a text message that I got that allowed me to I

made a poem about this as I was searching my own heart but I had to ask the question what things have I been trying to do in the flesh that my flesh is just absolutely weak weak to that my spirit is the only way I can overcome this obstacle go in I'm going to share something about today's run but for those who don't know me I have a lot of new people on this platform shout out to you all who are joining we're growing and that's only by God who gives the increase so I thank you I prayed for you trust me I've been looking for you a long time

my book pick up your calling this calling links down in the description below um but just ordered a whole new batch I'll be sharing more about that later but today's video my leader is inspired also by this run I went on a run today back in 2014 is when I first started running because of suicide and I almost committed suicide back in 2014 I got a video in the description below and Jesus Christ is the reason for a delivered season I would not be here here if Jesus Christ had not intervened and one thing that God allowed me to do during that season of Overcoming Depression was he allowed me

to start running running was a thing that I began to do that helped bring so much peace to my body Clarity into my mind and I remember eventually getting to the point where I was running about three marathons a week I was running over 14 mile days some days I'm running 17 mes 16 MTH you know and I'm just trying to outrun my darkness and my depression and I was trying to the word speaks about beating your flesh making your flesh fall into submission of you all right not allowing your flesh to be the one that has v v victory over you but you having victory over your flesh so

today I had a beautiful run I did about a 10 mile run I did like four 400 push-ups today right more than I typically do I was just fired up and what God revealed to me today what I did a little different today was I truly got into a space of worship before I began to run okay I got into a place of worship and in this place of worship I was ignited it's like the it's like God was just ministering to me Angels were inspiring me like the whole Heavens were just looking down upon me and and cheering me on I just felt God's presence I felt his love

and I felt ignited so when I went out today to go for a run this 10 mile run I was able to do it with ease versus before getting into the spirit trying to do this in my flesh My Flesh was weak My Flesh was telling me things like I don't want to do this run right now I don't really want to get into this I I I I'll do it tomorrow I do it maybe next week man you don't got to run so hard but as I begin to worship this Spirit began to move and the Holy Spirit propelled me to go forward and I'm running in this cold

weather and it feels amazing this brings me to our scripture today I'm not going to go deep into the ex Jesus of of this entire chapter but what I will talk about is this is Jesus now who is now entering his final hours where he's going to be executed it's a heavy time his heart is heavy and we see this in verse 37 in chapter 26 where it says and he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and very heavy it's a very heavy moment for Jesus and it's not a heavy moment in the spirit because Jesus knew what he was here

on Earth to do he knew his time he knew his hour but it still didn't neglect the fact that he was in a human vessel he was in flesh flesh okay and it says in verse 38 then said he unto them my soul is exceedingly sorrowful even unto death tear ye here and watch with me and he went a little further and fell on his face and prayed so Jesus Christ now gets into a posture of prayer which is also like a posture of worship okay he fell to his face he's speaking to Aba the heavenly father and he says oh my father if it be possible let this cup

pass from me nevertheless not as I will but as thou thou will let this cup pass from me but he's still at this point in time surrendering his will he's surrendering his desire he's surrendering and saying God not my will but your will whatever that is let your will be done and we know what that is for Jesus otherwise you and I wouldn't be having our Salvation you right Jesus Christ died for your sins he died for my sins he became a curse on the cross where it says those who are hung on a tree are cursed he became a curse for your and our sin all right God didn't

come to condemn the world but to save the world and God he sent his only begotten son Jesus for this very specific moment he's about to become the Savior he's already the Savior but he's about to complete and become the Fulfillment now check this out in verse 40 and he come unto the disciples and finded them asleep and said unto Peter what could you not watch me one hour in verse 41 is why we're here right now it says watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak now I want to stop right there because verse 42 says he went

away again the second time and prayed saying oh father if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it thy will be done if this cup may not pass away from me that's a whole another message that we're going to get into but right now verse 41 watch and pray that you enter not into temptation the spirit is indeed willing but the flesh is weak the spirit is willing always at all times you believers who have the Holy Ghost your spirit like Jesus discerns even the things of God does and speaks only the things that it hears the father speak your spirit is always willing to do

and be obedient to your heavenly father at all times when we are submitted to the Holy Ghost we have the strength and we have the power to do things that we typically would not be able to do here Jesus Christ and saying the sping the spirit is willing his spirit is willing to go through something that his flesh is not readily just willing to do and that's di on the cross even unto death Jesus Christ remains obedient it's a powerful concept it's a powerful reality and I remember today I got a text message from my mother on disclose our whole conversation but the last text was about the flesh being

weak and it was regards to something that she really wants to do and how even though she wants to do this there's like this thing that's stopping her from doing it okay it's this thing that's stopping her from doing it and it reminded me of all the things that have stopped me from doing it reminded me this morning of what would have stopped me from getting this workout in what would have stopped me from getting this run in the flesh is weak and the deeper we lean into the flesh the more we're apt to just neglect completely everything that God would have us do this this season those hard tasks

dying for the sins of humanity and having to go through death yes he overcame death but just having to go through it many of us are not going through something that intense but just having to go to a situation where it almost feels like if we do this thing in the flesh is death to us it just seems like ah this one right here is going to be the thing that just I can't do it and if I do it I'm going to fail miserably and we think that failure ultimately is the worst thing that could possibly happen to us but actuality failure is not the worst thing that can

happen the worst thing that can happen to us is that when God puts something in our spirit is that we don't obey and we don't go through the very thing that God would have brought us through in the spirit that's the worst thing that we could do because we don't get to see the Promise his promis for our life we don't get to see the Promise outcome of what confidence does it says that those who come to God in Hebrews 11:6 must first and foremost it's impossible to please God without faith and those that come to him must believe that he is and he is a reward of those that

diligently seek him and when we're pleasing pleasing God there's these rewards that come when we're pleasing God and it's beautiful but we can't see it when we're just apt to the flesh because the thing of the flesh the flesh as the word speaks about it literally when we get these Temptation and his desires his desires are contrary to that of the spirit and just think about how powerful Jesus Christ death was for you on not your flesh is never going to come to an agreement that this is what it wants to do I don't want to do that I'm not going that that's the biggest hit to your flesh the

ego I ain't I'm not sacrificing my life for that I'm not giving my time up for that I'm not doing that but in that posture is a posture of Pride and the more that I realize in my own life man that I'm following my flesh I get arrogant I get prideful and not only that I get I get scared I get afraid the word speaks about that God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind when I'm operating in my flesh I I start getting a little afraid to do some things that I typically would have the confidence to do because I'm

operating in the spirit and my my challenge for us today is to do like Jesus Jesus prayed in verse 9 he fell on his face and he prayed that's that's a powerful posture of surrender talking to Aba Our Father Who strengthens us this is what Psalm says my strength is in the Lord when you talk to God you can't help but to be strengthened this times I haven't had enough sleep and my flesh is weak and I get up and I start praying I start speaking my heavenly language I start praising worship music my strength is restored then I I get this B boldness I get this boldness man and

so Jesus Christ prays and then he does it again in verse 42 for a second time it says he prays again and in that after the prayer is what comes out of his mouth so my leader today's challenge is if there's something difficult to do that we both have to do we need to begin to start praying and worshiping and ask the Lord if this is your cup for me to drink and there's no other thing for me to do Lord give me the strength to drink this this cup give me the strength to do your will even though my flesh is afraid your spirit is Not Afraid God your

spirit don't fear nothing your spirit don't even operate in fear your spirit don't know what fear is is it can't even comprehend the concept of fear because it's not in it you didn't give us a spirit of fear that's not your spirit so that spirit of fear comes from the Antichrist it comes from a demon it comes from the enemy it dwells in the flesh and so I'm challenged today because I realize what worship and prayer did I told my wife I said babe I think I found a new chat code yeah I drun a little coffee but it wasn't my coffee coffee it was me praising and it was

me worshiping that got me hyped up it got me amped up in the spirit giving God the glory and the praise and I was able to go out there and run this 10 miles and I've been it's been three days now you know completed over 30 30 miles within the past like four days and I my body just feels good you know am I going to do it every single day I'm not going to do every single day but just to be able to to challenge myself and continuously push boundaries and push limits it feels phenomenal and knowing that I'm not doing that in my own flesh cuz I can't

do this in my own flesh there nothing all the things I truly want to do I can't do it in my flesh doing these videos YouTube I can't do it in my flesh trying to write some poetry I can't do it in my flesh trying to love my wife I can't do it in my flesh trying to contact and communicate with my friends or my family or people that I care about or going out into the community and really being in an upbeat Temple every single day I can't do that in my flesh I must do that in my spirit and so my leaders you watching this today and there's

something God is calling you to do remember don't rely on your flesh because the flesh is truly weak but the spirit is willing and if you and I continuously on this day moving forward connect and partner up with the Holy Ghost the things that we're going to be able to do for the kingdom of God that God has called you to do that Jesus Christ who is your author and your finish is already written down in the Book of Life you'll be able to walk through and run through these things with boldness with confidence because it won't be you doing it it will be the Holy Ghost ABA your father

Jesus Christ doing this thing with you remember that okay let's pray dear heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ father we come to you today with a thankful heart that you have given us the gift of the Holy Ghost father we thank you that you're giving us a word today on the fact that we have the strength and we have the ability to do those things that you've called us to do so father today we repent for trying to do things in our own flesh and we commit today to doing things according to your spirit father lead us with boldness lead us with confidence lead us and we

say no to the flesh if it's according to your will that we drink of this cup that we bear our cross Lord give us the confidence to Bear our cross so that we can produce the fruit in our life that you want us to produce so That Others May be helped served and healed through us the word it say that we are your hands and we are your feet and we are determined on this platform right now to be your hands and to be your feet but we need you to use us magnify the Holy Ghost that's within us and arrest us and compel us to do every single thing

that you've called us to do on our time here on this Earth before we come back home to you so we just want to say that we love you we thank you for this time we thank you for this hour it's in Jesus mighty name that we pray amen amen amen we are
