Overcome Evil with Good (Romans 12 Insight)

my leaders we are here again thank you for joining me if this is your first time my name is Michael Ja Ona Chine I'm a certified life coach on a journey to become a pastor and if you're here right now it's my mission to serve you spiritual leadership spiritual guidance faith-based principles rooted directly in his word and so today's message is titled titled overcome overcome evil with good let's pray heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Lord I'm asking you right now that use my vessel and speak your words through me heavenly father so that I may share something that's going to touch this leader that's going to

guide this leader that is going to cover this leader in their next decision right now God you've given me a word that some individuals right now are offended there's an offense that has taken place either by somebody that they are close to a loved one or by some random individual they're offended right now right and they want to get even and so father I'm praying that you will give me the words through your scriptures that would bring a fresh Revelation on what the this individual ought to do in this scenario guide me use me in Jesus mighty name we pray amen amen my leaders the Lord impressed it on me

this morning to share this specific message because some of you all are offended some of you all have been overcome with evil and the evil is an offense offense okay have you ever been offended and I want to ask you right now as you think about it has somebody offended you lately has there been something wicked has there been something evil done to you and you're thinking about somebody right right now and do you have a feeling inside you that want wants to get even you want to do something to show this this individual who is in charge matter of fact you want to go back to how you used

to be cuz some of y'all are not all the way save and you want to remind people of just who you are you've been overcome with evil and a part of you just can't shake it my leaders this morning I woke up okay and I was feeling some type of way I was repl playing some things in my head that had happened and today I had to go to God again and say Lord I repent for these thoughts that I'm having I Repent that I'm constantly still thinking about this offense Lord show me what I need to do guide me today so I began to do a bible study on

this specific specific thing I wasn't going to open my bible to read this matter of fact I was going to begin reading Joshua chapter 5 and going deep in it and exting it looking at my concordance just breaking it down doing what I love to do but this was so heavy on me that I had to take a different path and do a study on this on what I was going through what I was feeling and the Lord revealed to me that I'm not the only one who was dealing with this some of you watching this right now and I want y' to open up your Bibles and we're going

to go to Romans I was led to Romans chapter 12 okay and I'm going to read I'm going to begin on verse 17 and we're going to read all the way down to verse 21 and by the time I finish reading this verse and reading these scriptures and kind of like expounding on a few things I believe is going to speak to you you you who have been taken by evil have been offended you that wants to repay evil for evil you want to get even I'm going to have you pause we're going to take a deep breath real quick and the first verse is going to hit you out

the gate Romans 12 verse 17 I'm reading out of the KJV version and it it reads reads recompose to no man evil for evil provide things honest in the sight of all men so first things first the very first thing that we see is to not repay evil for evil so somebody gave you evil I'm not going to exchange the same level of Wrath back to you recompose to no man evil for evil evil is not something I'mma exchange with you this season I know I know you're thinking that I need to exchange that same level of energy I'm not going to ex exchange that same level of energy that's

not my vibe holy spirit says no right Verse 18 if it be possible as much as lie in you live peaceably with all men if it be possible okay we want to be at peace with all men dearly beloved avenge not yourselves but rather give Place unto wrath for it is written vengeance is mine I will repay said the Lord therefore if thine enemy hunger feed him if he thirst give him drink for in so doing thou shal reap coals of fire on his his head be not overcome of evil but overcome evil would good good M ah not what I wanted to hear but it's what the word says

so let's let's look at a few things here before we exit Verse 18 if it be possible as much as light in you as much as you are capable of maintaining a spirit of the fruit of self-control that's one of them be at peace with all men even those who have done you wrong which you just told us previously in verse 17 to not pay evil for evil even though that's what you want to do it says dearly beloved avenge not yourself so beloved I know you are offended and I know you are hurt but please do not avenge yourself do not do it don't try to get even out

of your own humanly understanding God sees you and he understands your offense and he says leave room for God to deal with this matter because if you allow God to deal with this matter he's the only true just God God okay he knows how to take care of this scenario way better than you will ever take care of it he needs you to let go verse 20 therefore okay this is now this is what we're to do therefore if thine enemy hunger if that individual who you now maybe possibly consider your enemy is hungry feed him if he thirst give him drink drink so here we are we're feeding some

somebody and we're giving people something okay you're blessing that individual it says bless those that curse curse you if somebody is hungry and you're giving them a nourishment to quench the hunger you're blessing them with a meal you're blessing them with food that's love if your baby or your niece or your nephew or a kid on the side of the road is starving the love that's within you just the human nature you're going to feed that individual I need you to feed them I need you to drink him I I still need you to if it's in you and it is in you I still need you to love on

this person and it says that thou shalt Heap coals of fire on his head you know what is so confusing the word talks about a soft soft answer it turns away wrath there's this idea that doing the exact opposite of what somebody else has done to you it just changes the atmosphere because the Bible says that love covers a multitude of sin it's crazy because we have to think about us coming to Jesus Christ and when we came to Jesus Christ we were already in our sin we were indulged in wickedness wickedness okay there are so many times where we have offended God yet it was his patience and that

his love it says that we didn't first love him he first loved us which is why we now love him and it was his love and his patience that was able to help us come to him and change our ways when we become Believers and we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior you would think that automatically we stop sinning but there's times where we sin and we literally are repenting and we're asking for forgiveness in the Lord you know what he does his gracious God he forgives and he tells us to also forgive our neighbors he tells us forgive them as he has forgiven us it's an act

of posture of love it's so strange when somebody hits you on One Cheek for you to turn the other cheek it's so weird to show love when somebody has offended you but it's a Biblical principle and it's like reverse psychology but I do also believe it's for our own protection how many times have we seen somebody get offended and the way that they avenge themselves they end up being locked up in prison 25 to Life they end up doing some of the most wicked things in order to get even and and you realize it was never worth worth it us as humans with all our imperfections we fail to know

how to get even we fail to be able to have the ability to truly show this level of Grace and outside of having Jesus Christ I don't know really how men shows Grace we often don't my leaders if your enemy is hungry feed them and if your enemy is thirsty give him something to drink it says in verse 21 be not overcome of evil but overcome evil with good last point I'll make is the enemy the one that is roaring around as though he's a lion looking for who he's to to devour one thing that I've come to recognize is when I'm given into anger and I allow myself to

enter into that level of Temptation cuz entering to temptation is not only lust but to enter into the temptation of anger to the point where it can lead me to wrath I realize now I enter the battlefield that I shouldn't be in I start to get pumped up in a way that I shouldn't I'm pumped up now I'm mad now I'm pce that's how that's how we patient back and forth you just been mad you just you just mad and now you're not even you're not even able to be yourself anymore all you thinking about is vengeance all you thinking about is saying something that's going to break this person

down that's all you want you want this person to be literally bleeding and there's a verse I want to share with you actually and it goes with this it's in Proverbs 12:18 it says there is that speaketh like the piercing of a sword but the tongue of the wise is health and I'm going to read in a version that you may understand uh Proverbs 16:18 it says a perverse person stirs up conflict and gossip separates close friends that is Proverbs 16:28 but I really want to read to you was Proverbs 12:18 there is one whose rash words are like sword thrust but the tongue of the wise bring healing so

there are words that are like a sword thr like you getting stabbed by sword but the words of the wise are Health when we are overcome with evil we tend to do things we shouldn't do we tend to say things that we shouldn't say because that Spirit of Wrath is not from God the word says say be ye angry yet sin not it never advises us to go into that space of Wrath my lead if today you have been overcome by evil God wants you to overcome evil with good I know it sounds contradictory to what you wanted to do but I promise you it's going to allow you to

be at peace so today God he continuously reminding me hey forgive this individual keep forgiving let that go give it to me but you need to forgive you got to forgive and maybe you got to forgive again maybe you didn't fully forgive and the Lord is saying forgive this individual for they know not what they've done but do not repay evil for evil overcome evil with good so my leadership challenge today who is it that done you wrong lately where is the offense who is it I do want to say I'm sorry and I do want to acknowledge your pain okay I do want to acknowledge the fact that you

feel you probably have every right to go back but if we are going to be Believers in Jesus Christ we have to move different I advise y'all go and read Romans chap 12 is a beautiful whatever version you got and read it meditate on it and and pray for the individual that hurt you and move forward God will deliver you from that and he's going to deal with it and pray a blessing that God deals with it in a good way you don't want you don't want your enemies to go through hell okay let's pray heavenly father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Lord we thank you for this

time we thank you for this hour Lord we just thank you for your word your word is perfect the teaching that you present here just contradicts the Flesh and we know the flesh contradicts the spirit and it doesn't want to have nothing to do with the spirit but God I'm praying that this leader will go towards doing what your word says this is about being at peace your word says don't repay evil for evil so God I'm praying that this individual right now would not repay evil for evil I'm praying that this individual would even find the opportunity to serve the individual that has hurt them and Lord if you've

called them to set a boundary so that they don't get into a conflict let them set a healthy boundary so they do not repay evil for evil let them set a space between them and the person that has harmed them but God let them hear your words today and let that thing go that's what you want us to know I'm praying that they have the strength to let it go and for the individual that offended them Lord we pray for that individual we pray a blessing over that individual we pray that that ex individual will experience love whatever pain that they're going through that they felt the need to cause

pain to this leader Lord we're praying for their Spirit we're praying for their soul we're praying for their mind but ultimately we're praying for their heart let them have an encounter with Jesus Christ that they can have a revelation of Jesus Christ and experience a transformation in a love like they've never experienced before so God we thank you for today's message we thank you for your instructions it's not easy but Lord we know that it's worth it we love you and it's in Jesus mighty name that we pray pray amen amen amen I love you my leaders but Jesus Christ loves you more okay lastly before I end this video
