Yo, my leaders, chapter 4. You are enough. What if nobody told you this entire year just how incredible you are? You never got one compliment on your looks. No one told you how beautiful or handsome you are. No one told you how impactful you've been to them. No one told you how fit you are. Now the word was mentioned about your efforts, your parenting, parenting, your loving, your personality. All right? If you spend an entire year intensely improving in all these areas without receiving any acknowledgement or recognition from anyone, would you believe that you actually made any improvements? improvements?
It's like the old saying, if a branch fell on the ground in the middle of the woods, did it really make a noise? My answer to that question is yes. And on whose record you ask, the individual branch that fell. You are enough. One of the things I speak about in pick up your column is this column in chapter 4 is self- validation. Some things that I dive into is about external validation. One of the biggest things back when I was a pre-farm pharmacy major at Texas Southern University was I needed to be validated for every single thing that I did. Okay?
I needed to be validated that my career choice was great. And I only kept pre-arm pharmacy once again because of the amount of income that it was going to make. It made my parents proud. My mother loved it. My pops loved it. All right. The world loved it. It it boosted my ego. It boosted my pride. And so I felt because it was something everybody liked, this was a space for me to stick to. didn't realize as I started to pursue it and as I got into depression, I realized, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, something's off. Something's off. Okay?
And one of the things I speak about in that chapter also is, hey, you got to value, we got to value, I must value those things that truly ring a a flame in my heart. Okay, those things that I truly resonate with and at the time it wasn't pre-farm pharmacy at the time it was really I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I wanted to I wanted to run a business. I wanted to be a creative, right? And in fact during that time when I left the need of to be validated, I started to do photography and I started to do videography. And guess what?
I started to meet the most phenomenal people on the planet, man. Friends came from that. People that I would consider family came from that. And most importantly, going in that path led me out of the stage that I was in of my deep depression. Now, if you watch my previous videos, you know my testimonials that I didn't get clinically diagnosed with depression. I called on the name of Jesus Christ during a day where I had a meltdown in suicide ideiation for the first time in my life. All right. 2014 was a dark, dark season.
And And I'm sharing this right now because what one thing God put on my heart is is like, Mike, man, I dropped these books in December 2023. And what the Lord impressed to me is that, hey Mike, you have not actually been going hard enough when it comes to giving those individuals the book that I've allowed you and I enabled you and I put a burden on your heart to create those individuals who are going through depression or who need a spark in their faith for such a time as now. Now is the time.
And I'm sitting here with these books and I'm literally like, "Wow, this chapter chapter hits me so deeply right now because hey, the Lord continued to remind me, hey, Michael, you're enough. What I've given you is enough. Trust. I know you want to make so much more impact. I know you want to do so much other things right now, but don't forget the seed that I want you to plant in people for this season. It's enough. And I'm convicted today because I'm like, man, thank you, Lord, for bringing this flame back.
Thank you for bringing this desire back, but also thank you for leading me to the people who need to hear these words that I'm spitting right now. You're enough. your ideas are enough. And if you're in a space where you don't believe that, nobody's giving you a compliment, nobody's nobody's push you right now, nobody's giving you any type of encouragement, you're literally trying to do this by yourself right now. I want to be that person that could walk alongside you and I want to be that person that can help you. The individual I'm getting opportunity to coach right now, we're doing phenomenal deep inner work right now.
And anybody who's had the opportunity to pick one of these up knows that this is not a book you're reading. This is an interaction book. You will be interacting with these. You will have to answer reflection questions at the end of each chapter and leadership challenges. You will be challenged. If you don't want to be challenged, don't pick this book up. It's not just read. This book is to challenge you. One thing I learned a long time ago, my father was taking this PhD course. I stole one of his PhD books on leadership. Okay?
And I'll never forget that book because one thing it said specifically is that leaders need to be challenged. Leaders have to be challenged. So if you're watching this video today, I consider you a leader. Especially if you made it to the end of this video, you're a leader and you want to be challenged. And if you have not been challenged, you're most likely going through a dark summit right now. It don't feel good. Something's off right now. And I'm talking about being challenged in the right way, not the wrong way, not the wrong way. The right way. And I want to help you along this journey. Okay?
So, my leaders, man, I would love for you to pick up a book, pick up your calling, calling, fate principles for overcoming depression. You can get this on Amazon.com. But I got real copies that I want to sign, put a signature on here, and give you a word. All right? I want to give you a word. So my leaders, I truly believe that this is something that's going to bring immense value in your life this season. Okay? You're going to spend money anyway. Might as well invest in yourself and spend money on something that's going to impact your life.
And if not your life, somebody else that may be going through a season where they just trying to they trying to pursue their calling, they need some fire in their belly. All right? They need a pimp in their step. They need somebody to come along yelling on the other side of the screen talking about, "Hey, hey man, what you doing? Where you at?" Asking the questions nobody wants to ask. All right, my [ __ ] I love you. I'mma see you on the next video. Okay.
