Yo, my leader, 2014 was one of the darkest years of my young adult life. Okay, I was a pre-farm pharmacy major at Texas Southern University. And during that time, I fell into a deep depression. Okay. Okay. In that depression, I never understood that I was even in depression. I never understood what I was going through during that time. But I fell into some vices. vices. The first time in my life in my young adult age where I'm smoking weed for the first time to escape. I'm drinking alcohol heavy. Every weekend I'm drinking heavy alcohol. Before I went to work, I would I would order dairies to go.
had a special spot that I would drive to just to get daquiries on the go before I would even go into work. I was overwhelmed, working two plus jobs at the time, full-time student. During that same time, I'm coping with vices like pornography. I'm overindulging in video games. And as a believer, I'm over here having premarital sex. I wasn't really following Jesus. I was following what could heal my immediate pain and my immediate suffering. I didn't know nothing about Jesus. Jesus. So during that time, the lowest that I had ever been, suicide was an option for me. I started having suicidal thoughts. My mind, I got a little brother.
I got two older sisters. I got a mother. I got a father. I got a grandmother, I got family, I got friends, I had community. community. But here I am in the darkest season of my life, one of the happiest people you'll ever meet, thinking suicidal thoughts. Now, during that time, if y'all know anything about Nigerians, many Nigerian households, African households, we don't share about our emotions. Okay? This may not be for everybody, but a majority of African home, we don't talk about emotions. It's not something we express. So, I didn't know how to express what I was actually going through and experiencing. So, I went to the vices.
Now, the time that I had the suicidal thoughts would be the first time I called out to Jesus. Okay? The very first time I called out to Jesus, like, Jesus, God, if you're who you say you are, I need you to come into my life today. Like, right now. Not in the next five minutes. Not in the next 30 minutes. I need you right here. I need you right now. I need you today. And I need you in this very moment. I need you in this very hour. Okay? And the moment I do that, I get a knock on the door.
And at the time is my ex of six years. She comes to the door and that distracted my suicide ideation and it was the first time I felt the warmth of Jesus Christ, the love of God. I started to crowd balling, balling in tears. When I opened that door, I said, "I need help." The three hardest words to say is, "I need help." in that moment forever changed my life because whatever stupid thing I was going to do that day, God came. He eradicated it. And so it started me down this journey of, "Hey Lord, what do you want me to do? Who do you want me to serve?
How do you want me to help? Where are the people at? I'm just trying to find the people. If I can find the people, then hey, hey, I can serve these individuals. Not that I have the answers, but God, you have the answers. I just want you to use me as a vessel. In fact, during that time, a few years after that, I had another friend of mine, close friend that committed suicide. And I and I knew from that day forward, I have to be somebody that is a pillar for the voice of depression for speaking life into people, okay?
To go deep in helping people heal what's in their hearts. That's what God did for me. That's what I want to do for other people. So, one of the reasons why I wrote this book specifically was for the clients that I get to help in my business. Ja Global Leadership LLC is literally the mission is to motivate and inspire faith and confidence in each individual that I meet to enable them and to empower them to go towards the calling that God has gifted them. If you're watching this video today, you got a calling. God has gifted you with a calling. Okay? He's gifted you with a mission.
And a lot of times what happens is where this calling is buried under dirt. It's buried under dirt. There's a quote that someone said that some of the greatest ideas, okay, the greatest thoughts, the greatest inventions inventions ever ever came into existence. They were buried. They're at the grave sites right now. And one of the things I recognized about our calling book is called pick up your calling is calling fate principles for overcoming depression.
Depression really if you look at that root is it's a low spirit and the the reason that we have a low spirit my leaders is because of all of the dirt and all of the baggage and all of the trauma and all of the distractions all the things that we go through this life and we pick up it begins to bury our identity. Okay. Our soul can't even express what God really wants us to express. So I created this book specifically to speak to the individual who God has called to do something great. Like you have a caller.
And when you operate in that power and when you operate in that anointing, when you operate in that gifting, it it literally serves humanity. It literally makes you a fisher of men. For those lost souls that are out there depressed, wanting to commit suicide or lost, strung out on drugs, addicted to alcohol and pornography, whatever you whatever you name it, your anointing, your gifting helps other people live the best life that God has called them to. This book, when I wrote it, was for just the people that I was called to coach and minister to. not knowing that it was going to administer to so many different individuals as well.
Inside each chapter, there's reflection questions. There's leadership challenges. challenges. You're required to have your word. You're required to also have a notebook so that you can interact with this book. This is one of the best reflection books you may have all year. I'll be honest with you because it's going to dig deep and ask you questions people may not be asking you. Hey, what if that individual that committed suicide has somebody to ask them the deep questions? What if that person with a broken heart has someone to just ask them the deepest questions?
What if that person that was in the dark realize that, hey man, there's other people in the dark, too. We just not talking about it. In this book, I reveal the darkness that I went through each chapter. I reveal the temptations. I reveal the trials. I'll reveal the trauma. I re reveal betrayal, rejection, being homeless, worshiping things that I shouldn't be worshiping. worshiping. I'll reveal where was the heart at. In the back of the book, you'll see journals, personal journals that I was so embarrassed to share. But the Lord said, "No, you got to share that.
You got to share how your thought pattern is." Folks, think for you, you don't you don't experience nothing. You don't go through nothing. You smiling all the time. You don't go through nothing. That's a lie. I go through things just like you all. But I don't allow those things to defeat me. I don't allow it to stop me. And that's my journey when it comes to serving you all. When we come together, it's like, hey man, how can I serve you so that you can be the greatest version of yourself? And so, this is why this book was created to help serve you in a in a phenomenal way.
I guarantee this book is going to be one of the greatest books in helping you self-reflect in seeing your heart. David has a psalm that says, "Search my heart." This book is going to help you search your heart. I guarantee it. I guarantee it. So, if you know anybody that's also dealing with, "Hey, man, I got I feel like I got a blockage and I'm stuck or I'm going through things. I don't know how to get out of it." I guarantee you this book was designed for that.
not just so I could just create a book, but because I know that this is some foundational work that's going to help serve the body, my leaders. So, and some of y'all, I'll be honest, God has been blessed me with so many different people that I get to serve, that I get to coach. Some of y'all, we're called to do one-on-one together. And I would love to do one on-one with you. I would love to sit down with you. I would love to get on a Zoom call or a Google Meets with you and just hear your story. see if there's a way that I can serve you. Okay?
See if there's a way that I can help you break through strongholds, right? Mental blockages, tormenting thoughts, okay? Behavior patterns and cycles that you feel like, man, I can't get through with this. I would love to be that person to help serve you along this journey if you would allow me. But you know what? If that's not you, at least start with the book. Start with something that's going to help serve you. Okay? I'm telling you this right here, you can get on Amazon.com or you can reach out to me directly. I'll save a book for you.
I'll put your name in it, sign it for you, and give you a word that I believe God wants me to share with you personally. Okay? But I believe, man, this is the time for us to keep healing. This is time for us to continue to break through. All right? And I believe that this is a resource that's going to serve you. You spend money on a lot of other things, all right? food outings, vacations, but invest in yourself. Invest in yourself and I guarantee it's going to be one of the greatest things that you do this year.
All right, my leaders, I got 50 copies that I ordered of physical copies and I would like to know if you want me to hold on for one for you specifically or a few for other people that you know. Okay, my leaders, I just wanted to share this message with you all that, hey, there is so much that God has called you to do and he wants you to pick up your calling, his calling. All right, my leaders, I love you.
